As part of our ongoing commitment to Health and in particular to older adults and their care, which is our field of expertise, today we take a break and reflect on World Health Day.
A year ago we emphasized the importance of knowing how to age with dignity and good health. We conceptualize older adulthood as a period of harvesting the fruits, reflection, mental and physical health. All of this is complemented with healthy nutrition, relaxation exercises and physical routines that are not strenuous, medication, accompaniment and a pleasant social life. It is the correct strategy for the prevention of ailments and diseases, integral wellbeing and a full life.
Health, according to the World Health Organization (WHO), in its 1948 Declaration is: "the state of complete physical, mental and social well-being and not merely the absence of disease or infirmity.". It should also be understood that health is not an absolute and that there are ailments and chronic or neurodegenerative diseases that can worsen over the years, as can happen with many older adults. However, this is not an obstacle for the elderly to have a high life expectancy and emotional motivation.
This can be achieved through proper follow-up and assistance to older adults by adequately trained personnel in areas such as psychology, nutrition and movement therapies, nursing care and medicine: just Verdeza's strengths.
In addition to the above, the promotion of an active social life and coexistence, as well as authentic and lasting bonds of friendship, are also initiatives of the Institution that optimize the quality of life of its residents. This counteracts the feelings of loneliness or isolation that some of them often experience.
