Thanks to the increase in life expectancy and the progress in the conditions of people in this age group, older adults can live longer and longer, experiencing their old age with quality of life and from a positive perspective that emphasizes the opportunities that this stage of development provides.
Older adulthood is seen then as a stage of gains, among them, the wisdom resulting from the experience of the years lived and the option of living life, taking advantage of every moment. Today's older adults know that when they reach this point in life they still have much to accomplish and much to contribute from their different areas.
Each life story is valuable, as are the lessons learned from each experience. They have experienced diverse historical events, crises and dilemmas, and have persevered through it all. With these stories they inspire us, keep us grounded and at the same time motivate us to pursue our dreams.
The place of the elderly in our society is extremely valuable. They carry with them many achievements and good deeds through which today we enjoy multiple benefits. We should thank them for this and act coherently with their examples, that is, defend all that they fought for.
The voice of the elderly must be heard today more than ever, it is a voice that knew how to guide us in our lives, so it represents a treasure for the younger generations the body of knowledge that this population transmits.
Although we should honor our older adults every day, let's remember on this day in a special way those in our family, community, circle of friends, etc. We can give them recognition and share with them on this day, as it is important for them to feel appreciated and valued by their loved ones.
Let them know how much we appreciate them and cherish each of their teachings. And let's do whatever it takes for them to enjoy this day in the best way possible.
On behalf of the Verdeza Community: Happy Senior Citizens Day!
